ARTIST'S STATEMENT

In adolescence, everything can be a form of play— from building eraser towers, poking parking coupons to simply pushing a door with a sign that says ‘pull’ (just to see if it works).

I vividly remember looking at the world with a peculiar lens as a child. I found play in every corner of the room, every car ride and every interaction with objects, never mind if they were ubiquitous or not. In this coursework, I sought to illustrate this unique world view which became increasingly precious as I grew up.

PHOTOGRAPHING SUBJECTS

I observed children at play to inform my composition. The girl in the blue dress was the most expressive of all and I chose her to be my solo subject eventually.
